Advantages: Proccessing power : Pound value is great.
Disadvantages: Not a gaming PC (but that's not the point)
Before I start, let me make this clear: I'm by no means a PC expert. I know my way around them, but I'm not able to tell you how RAM works, or what a GH is without first reading about it. This shouldn't deter you, though. Not everyone who buys a PC wants to read about hard data.
I own this computer. In fact, I'm using it right now to write this review. Spooky? Not really. But what is spooky is that I've owned it for such a long time and it's still running as smooth as when I bought it. It's my understanding that computers tend to deteriorate after several years of use, but this thing is a juggernaut.
When it was new it played every game available. Sure it wasn't cheap so this was to be expected, but it's certainly not a gaming rig either. At the time, pound for pound, this thing was awesome.
You may not have liked all the Sony software junk it came with, but that's to be expected with most PC's bought from a chain store.
Around the time of CoD 4, it stopped playing games. I could have purchased the graphics card upgrades and whatnot, but I didn't see the point. I bought a PS3 instead.
You see, what this thing did and still does well despite all of the quad-core processors of today, is run several things at once. I could be streaming video, running a virus check, reading a web-page and listening to music and the thing barely flinches. Like a faithful dog, it plows on through the hard times and the good.
Perhaps this isn't a "buyers" review. Think of this as a recommendation. If you can get your hands on one of these... at today's prices... you'll have a friend for life. And I mean life. I don't see this thing breaking any time soon.
Summary: Despite it's age, still one of the toughest PC's I've ever used.
