Advantages: Reliable, fast and upgradable

Disadvantages: Does not come with too many features in xp

This was my first desktop pc. And it certainly did its job and looked the part.

As you can tell its a Sony PC. So it is overpriced for what you get, but it is well built and is very very reliable.

As you can see from the image the pc is light grey in colour with some subtle purple tinges which run down either side of the tower.
To match this the speaker grills are als meshed in purple as well as the keyboard wrist rest.

So first of all lets look at the tower. The tower is large, quite bulky and extremely heavy compared to todays pc's. Not only this but when you turn the machine on it sounds like a jumbo jet is landing in your room. Its very very loud.
There is a cool blue light which illuminates when the machine is on, and there are two orange lights to show when the HDD and cd-rom drives are in use. This machine is bundled with XP and has lots of expansion inside for more ram and another HDD. The bundled 256mb of ram is great to start with but you will need to whack it up to 1gb to make the most of it!
The tower has two cd drive bays, one cd-rom drive and one cd rw drive/ So you can copy and play at the same time!
There is also a floppy drive and memory card slot too, bu only for Sony memory sticks. Helpful as i own sony cameras, but for those who dont a bit unfair. But the machine is old now.
On the back of the unit there are only 2 usbs, but there are two on the front with an i link as well. Helpful for connecting cameras etc without going round the back!
The pc can handle multi tasking brilliantly and does not seem to struggle very often if at all.
The tower has never given me any problems for 7 years and has been on and off everyday. So its reliable and so very well made.

Now moving on to the speakers, although they are pretty tiny and quite passive they do produce very good clear sound. Yes you could have better but you could get much worse. As bundled speakers i think Sony did a great job.

The keyboard and mouse are both ok, keyboard could have quieter keys but hey im just picking now.

Finally i come ont the monitor, which for a 15" is very clear and does nicely. Its low energy consumption make it a great choice, but there are much better lcds available now as well.

So overall a Desktop pc which is absolutely brilliant, and Sony have done well to build a machine which has been relilable for several years and not really needed any upgrades.

Summary: A superb machine , that looks cool and performs superbly.

Maybe yes. But i still have mine, and it still works. So it still has life and will get used!

Pretty much of historical interest only then?
