Advantages: very controlable, and taylorable to your needs

Disadvantages: too specific & complicated for beginners of small buinesses

these servers come with a range of specifications - although for those not in the know it's worth noting that the components are all made by sun microsystems so the processors are not intel nor amd the are sun...this is true for all of the components and the operating system is also a sun os, specifically a unix based os (not a window to be seen).

These can be quite expensive to repair due to the parts being hard to get hold of and the cost of those. Often if for example the power supply unit blows the machine is stripped and the parts sold on ebay or similar.

High end machines often used in medium to large organisations (ie universities) but really overkill in a small business.

For most purposes I would not recommend this & if you are lucky enough to come accross one and want to learn about servers this isn't the one you want as it's too specific to one thing.

Summary: Not a learning machine.
