Advantages: Good advertisement
Disadvantages: Too many to list
Complaining to TIME has cost me money. Purchasing a PC from a TIME showroom in August, we were delighted (although out of pocket at a charge of £15 for Saturday delivery) when our newly built PC costing way over £1000 arrived. Trusting that our new PC was in full working order (yes, stupid I know), we built up our new office furniture first. Hence, a month has passed and we open the number of packages as if it is Christmas. As a child is given a toy without batteries, we were given a PC without leads or software. Luckliy we had retained our old PC and stole the necessary items to make up our marvellous machine. However, the damned thing didn't work. It had not been preloaded as promised. Now we get to the main gripe. To lodge a complaint with TIME, we were told by the showroom and the sales office, we would have to call the £1 a minute line. Yesterday (8th November) we finally received a call back from TIME, after almost three months of ringing the £1 a minute line, calls to trading standards and two letters sent recorded delivery. They tell us there is a hardware fault (yes we know) on the PC they sent us. For them to reach decision, we have spent: £15 delivery. £5 misc calls to trading standards and showroom £100 on £1 a minute line as a rough estimation and not wishing to exaggerate. £1.80 recorded delivery charges. That equals approximately £121.80 for TIME to provide us with a faulty computer. TIME may provide a satisfactory solution to all of this, but if any employee of TIME reads this. Get your acts together or you will lose business in a competitive market.

- 12/11/01 I think this is a useful op as a warning for those not familiar with Time's approach to customer service. When their products are reviewed in magazines they come out as middle of the road value, performance. Please follow this up and update your op with what happens next; are you going to ask for a refund, or a new machine? |

- 09/11/01 There aren't many places left to get a pc anymore as Tiny have had bad press and i have had similar problems with Tempo. I think a smal independant retailer would be more greatfull for your custom and provide a much better service. |
