shaneo632 Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil (PC): ... loved Doom 3. It was a refreshingly creepy game that boasted a very legitimate difficulty level, and was also visually stunning to boot. It wasn t long before an expansion was released given the game s meteoric success, in the considerably less memorable (but still pretty good) Resurrection of Evil, which presents 12 new levels to plough through, a bunch of new monsters, and also the famed shotgun from the original...

shaneo632 Tomb Raider Underworld (PC)
... was a big fan of the original Tomb Raider games; they were breakthroughs for the action adventure genre and were genuinely very fun to play. However, I did get a bit fed up with how they began to become an EA-style franchise, churned out every year despite the fact that they managed to quite spectacularly kill off Lara in the fourth game, only to bring her back with a laughably flimsy excuse. After the abomination that was Angel of Darkness, a buggy, hokey game, I had lost all hope for the series, but as the newer, more robust entries such as Legend and Underworld show, all is not lost. I shan t dwell on the plot because it s pretty standard stuff. What really works, t...

shaneo632 Prey (PC)
... is an incredibly under-rated FPS game that never really found much of an audience but is a very unique and rather fun game that, while too easy, has some very clever sci-fi ideas and some great graphics. Most noticeable about this game is that it is one of the few games to be about Native Americans and their way of live; you are an Indian man who is in a bar when suddenly a portal opens in the middle of the room and you are dragged into it. You awaken in a strange alien world, where you are "prey" to the monstrous enemies around you, and must adopt their weaponry in order to take them down, using a complex series of portals to navigate their world, while a...

shaneo632 Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon (PC)
... remember well how hyped up and built up Ghost Recon was before its release, and given that it was from Tom "Rainbow Six / Splinter Cell" Clancy, I thought I d give it the benefit of the doubt. While it IS a fun game, it s not quite as layered as most of his other games, and feels a tad familiar. Those who ve played Rainbow Six will know that s up from the outset; you control a team of squaddies who then have to take down terrorist sects and other groups of baddies. Despite the hype, it s actually a pretty average-looking, but decent, game, although admittedly the sound effects - of the guns and of the other soldiers - are consistently good throughout. However...
