Actua Pool actually does a good job of simulating the game itself, with a decent enough graphical representation with animated players (dated but still not bad) and mostly realistic game physics. (Occasionally there are graphical and physics glitches but these are rare enough not to interfere with the gameplay on the whole.) The game seems pretty diffi...more

Premium Review Actua Pool (PC): A very decent computer pool simulation for less than a quid! (644 words)

Rating:

Actua Pool is a computer pool simulation. No more, no less. (No not a swimming pool…) Take your cue and chalk, and head on over to one of several nicely rendered backgrounds. Following a video sequence that really does look dated we have the options screen, which lets us visit the “Pool School” (where the players take the shots so quickly you can hardly see them!!), see the rules of the various types of pool (I had honestly never realised there were this many!), set up the aesthetics, or of course play the game itself. Without knowing much about computer pool, I stumbled into buying this game. I didn't know about this site when I first bought it. How wrong I was. The game's graphic's awkward gameplay and narrow options make this game 'actua'lly boring. The two player option is almost non-existent, but this is not much better than the single player mode. Seeing as the game is not particularly new, the writing mustn't have taken very long and the research was rudimentary, the price was far too high. It would have been alright if it had been a download, but as a highly priced full game it is frankly pathetic. DO NOT BUY. ...
