Age of empires is a fantastic video game series of real time historic strategy games available on the PC. The first one came out in 1997 and since then they have been a favourite in video games, well certainly for the PC any way. This edition of the game, the gold edition combines the first age of empires game with the ages of empires, the rise of rome that followed it. This means that there's double the scenarios and even more maps, scenery, buildings and people in this than ever before. One thing I like about this game is that there are a lot of interesting scenarios to complete, and not all are that easy either, I certainly didn't manage to complete all of ... Fantastic - what a game! Set in ancient times - you pick a civilisation and choose scnearios, advance through the ages, smite your foes etc - you know how it works! Although anyone with Age of Empires 2 will know this original has shortcomings, for it's time it was an amazing and groundbreaking game. such choice of player civilisations and mission options mean you'll never play the same game twice. I spent days playing the huge maps with eight enemies - amassing an invincible force, although a limit of 50 units means you can't amass a giant force - just an invincible one with all the good upgrades. The gold edition - four ... Read the complete review

However I had played Age Of Empires on a friends computer and was hooked. I must admit it isn't an indepth game, sure there are historical battles and different civilization to choose from but the play of this game is still fairly basic. It does however offer you the chance to try out your strategies in trying to defeat your enemies and if you like that sort of game you will love this one. The graphics are sweet, you have little axe men and archers which can become more ... Read the complete review

I picked this up a couple of years ago for about £25 and I am still playing it now. The graphics areen't great, but is just simply the gameplay of this game that makes it so excellent!! You can just keep playing and playing! This has to be the best online game I have. It is best played using MSN Gaming Zone, where there are usually always about 200 people playing it. The graphics aren't overloading anyones computer which means it is possible to play a game with 8 people and have no lag!! It is a great game offline but online its improved dramatically, you can play harder opposition, and there are new options such as higher pop ... Read the complete review
