Advantages: You can spend ages building up your own little community you're in charge of

Disadvantages: A bit dated

This game has aged a bit but for the price you will get good value as you will get hours of game play out of it.

There are various different senarios you can set up but I always just play me vs the computer.

The aim of the game is that you are a small community somewhere themed (dessert, islands, egyptian times, stone age etc) land. You have to explore the area and build you community up. You can instruct your people to build buildings but first you will need to collect the natural resouces to enable a build. You can expand your community by producing more villagers but you need to have enough houses to shelter them, so you have to work to get bigger it wont just happen.

As you explore the area you may come across your opponant, I have always set the competition cirtera so that we are at war with each other. This means that you can have hours of fun building up a massive army and then set off and destroy them!

As your community progresses through 'ages' more and more advanced buildings become available for you to build. From these buildings such as temples you can produce mythical creatures who can form part of your army. the mythical creatures that you can produce depends on which civilization you chose to be at the start (roman, egyptian etc).

All in all this is still a good family game as there is no blood and gore however is only recommeded for ages 11+. Your kids can have hours of fun building massive communities and also facing attach on their community and attacking others! Though you may not want to encourage that!

Summary: Great strategy game f you're not bothered about it being a bit dated
