Best RTS (Age of Empires III (PC))

Advantages: Some good map graphics

Disadvantages: Poor charactor graphics

I've got to be honest I never really have liked this genre and AOE3 has not converted me either
I have always been an action type gamer and not into RTS in the slightest. I played AOE3 and I was not overly impressed. The game is relatively straightforward to use and the interface can be confusing at first until you do the tutorial. The game, unfortunately though, does not do too great on graphics, don't get me wrong the lighting and effects of the map are superb but the characters and movable objects look like they have come from a much older game.
The campaign is not to my liking and I think I will stick to the scenarios as they are a lot more enjoyable and offer more freedom. It is not the kind of game you can really sit down and play for hours on end, although I know many that would. You kind of have to play for 30mins and have a break.
Also the speed is a pain, you tend to be hanging around for some more settlers or some more ships rather than fighting or something, plus the enemy seems to build too slowly and so they are a pushover allowing win, after win, after win.

Overall a great game, maybe geared towards much older computer users who are not that great with computers (like my nan) or maybe children still in primary school, none the less it still is quite a good game and has kept me amused for several days whilst I wait for more games to arrive in the post.

Summary: A great RTS for the old and young (not really in-between)
