I have to admit when I heard about this game I thought oh no a game by Microsoft, how good can that be, but it looked like the type of game I would enjoy so I went out and bought it.

Here I am 2 years later and I am still playing the game.

When I first started playing I could not put it down, many a night’s sleep was lost trying to complete the campaigns just to find out what would come next. Then when I had finished the campaigns I went on to the random map mode and started taking on the computer and it is this mode I am still playing today admittedly not as much as when the game first came out, but probably a few times a month.

The idea of the game is for you to manage your people from the stone age with very few buildings and weapons right through to the iron age when you have to have collected serious amounts of gold and other raw materials for you to research or build the newer units. Obviously you are not left alone to grow in peace there are up to 7 other races who are all rather keen on destroying you so you have to defend yourselves while you build your empire and then take the fight to them and wipe them out.

If you are into god games and you have not played this, go out and buy it, the game is a few years old now and you should be able to pick it up for about £10. I assure you it will be money well spent.

There are some really cool cheats for this game as well, I always recommend that you complete the game without cheats first other wise you are wasting your money, but when you have completed the campaigns try them again using some of the cheats they are great fun.
