      Very helpful

      An old, but great classic!

Age of Mythology is published by Macsoft, in 2003. It is very similar to Age of Empires. The game is defined as a Real Time Strategy game, since you control different units from above. You command troops, build towns and destroy the enemy. This game is almost 10 years old, but definitely a great classic!

Age of Mythology is set in the ancient mythological world. All kinds of fantasy - based characters and monsters are found in this game. The story is about the young leader Arkantos, together with other friends you play through the wonderful campaign. There are 32 missions in total. I definitely like the story of the game.

Though the most played game mode by me is custom game. This is the regular 1v1 or 2v2 battle. You start out with a town hall, some villagers and a scout. You have to gather resources by mining gold, hunting animals for food and cutting trees for wood. With these materials you can start to expand your empire by building several structures. Buildings such as the Barracks allow you to recruit and train soldiers to get yourself an army. With the gathered resources you can afford those soldiers. The custom game mode is basically sandbox and you can setup which enemies you will fight against and what their difficulty is. I have played this so often in my younger years. There are different gods you obey and this determines what kind of soldiers and buildings you have. So you have different groups of people: the Egyptians, the Greeks and the Norse. Each of them have different specialities and a different playing style. This gives the game variety and it makes battles and games far more interesting. The gameplay is quite simple, point and click where you want soldiers to go or villagers to build something. Though to be victorious you will have to think of a good strategy or some tactics to complete the mission.

Age of Mythology also includes a multiplayer mode. If you are done with the single player mode, and you are ready to fight against other people, you can play multiplayer mode. This is the same idea as in the single player, but then the computer is replaced by others. Here you will have to think of a good strategy to win from your opponent. The multiplayer is good, but not outstanding.

      *Map Editor*

The game includes a map editor, this basically means you can create your own maps and landscapes. You can also place all the units and buildings in there, to create anything you want. The map editor works well and once you get the hang of it, you can pretty much do anything you want with it.

The graphics of the game are, even though its old, not that bad for an RTS (Real Time Strategy) game. The models are made alright. Of course the graphics aren't as great as now, but in its time the graphics weren't bad at all.

To conclude, this game is really fun to play alone or with your friends. You can spend a lot of time playing this game since every round could take up to 30 minutes or more. Age of Mythology is and stays a great classic game!
