Advantages: Diverse maps
Disadvantages: It is quite old and hence poor graphics
Age of Mythology is a monumentally old game, it's still good.
I got this about 2-3yrs ago and loved it, every so often I crack it out and do a simple map of sorts or I have a LAN game with some friends (how sad but what fun!).
Basically in this game you are a 'commander', if you will, of a colony of Greeks, Egyptians or Norse (whatever they are). You have to command different units (civilian and military) to advance your population through the ages and win in the end (which is very easy to do).
There are many maps to choose from including island and places with absolutely no sea whatsoever. There are quite a few options in maps and each is generated differently so that trees, animals, resources and town buildings are not placed in the same position.
Although this game is very old and better games exist like Age of Empires 3 I still like this game plus it runs on my laptop with no problems so makes it easy to take it to a friends house for a match.
Overall if you haven't got it and have Age of Empires I wouldn't recommend it, but if you have a really low spec laptop it'll probably run maxed out for some great LAN fights or a bit of fun on the train to London or something.
Summary: Still a great game after all of this time
