Masterminded by a man who worked on some of the PC's all time classic games, including Doom 1 and 2 and Quake 1 and 2, 'American Mcgee's Alice' is a dark gothic 3D platformer bilt around the Quake 2 engine and based upon Lewis Carroll's classic tale 'Alice In Wonderland'. The game sees you control Alice in thrid person through a series of platform-based levels, employing a number of projectile and melee weapons (playing cards, a staff, a huge carving knife) to dispatch tha baddies, which include giant playing cards, monstrous flowers and numerous other foes all based around the original subject matter yet, like the levels themselves, all filtered through a ... 4 November 1864 - Received confirmation from the Superintendent that I will be given the opportunity to treat a very troubled and difficult patient. Dubious honour! Her name is Alice, and her prognosis is not promising. After looking at her file, I'm astonished she has survived this long. She has been nearly comatose for a year. I'm sure you will all have heard of Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, American McGee's Alice is the sequel to these stories, and a very different tale indeed. The opening sequence shot in fantastically rendered animation shows Alice leap from her burning house and save herself from the fire, while ... Read the complete review

If you were to cross Tim Burton With Lewis Carrol, then this wold have been how the resultant hybrid would have written the Alice In Wonderland books. Well, the third in the series anyway. Here, Alice has returned to Wonderland to find things changed. Her whole family has been killed in an accident and she has been institutionalised, her mind unravelling, thus the world of Wonderland which she has created there has turned black and evil. Its a twisted nightmarish world which Alice must battle to for a final showdown with the Queen or lose her sanity altogether - it is relly a battle with herself to save her mind. We have of course seen this type of game ... Read the complete review

You probably all know the children’s bed-time story Alice in Wonderland. In her sleep, Alice follows a white rabbit into a strange land where all odd things come together. She is attacked by card guards, is invited to the mad-hatters not-birthdayparty, etc. Ever wondered what happened to Alice after she woke up? The answer is right here, in glorious 3D. Apparently, Alice has lost her sanity due to her traumatising dream (or nightmare), and has been locked up. The only way for her to reclaim her sanity, is to travel back to wonderland, and face her nightmares again, and deal with them. Only this time, she won’t be the little young girl that is ... Everyone knows the story about alice in wonderland, at first hearing the name of this title i thought it would be another nice idea flawed by lack of imagination and how famous effects (shrinking and growing, etc), would not be present in the game. I wouldnt have even looked at this game if it wern't for my brother. Eventually two weeks after its release i brought my copy and to be honest i havent put it down since. The cut-scenes at everystage of the game give you the outline of the plot. Basically, wonderworld is posessed with evil and only alice can restore things to how they were. All the usual people from the story are there although each character has ... Read the complete review
