Aliens Versus Predator was a game that was a long time in development. Suspiciously long. The result is a remarkably average game. I have the Gold Edition of the game, which comes on two discs, oddly only one of which that the game has ever actually asked me for, which begs the question of what comes on the second disc. Well, in case you're curious, it's a CD Audio disc carrying atmospheric "music" to accompany your game play – though it seems odd that the game never tells you this, or recommends that its insertion before play. The first disc contains the game data which, after installation, you need never insert into your CD-ROM drive again. ... Read the complete review

Released several years before the rather dire film of the same name, Aliens Versus Predator is an atmospheric first person shooter that allows you to play as either a heavily armed, gung-ho space marine from the Aliens film, one of Giger's agile, insectile alien drones or as a Predator- a ten-foot tall killing machine with a range of bladed and high-tech projectile weapons at its disposal. There are seperate campaigns for each of the playable species, with the marine campaign seeing you wandering through the dark, dank corridors of the abandoned colony on LV426 from the Aliens film(amongst other locations), and taking out face-huggers and drones with weapons ... One of the gaming classics of the late 1990s is Aliens Versus Predator, a game that presents a crackling premise with a lot of promise, and actually delivers. You can play as either the Alien from the Alien films, the Predator from, yes, the Predator films, or the Marines that appeared in the second Alien film, Aliens. This is a superb game that's a fantastic companion piece to both the respective films and the numerous comic books based on the premise. Whilst the Alien and Predator campaigns are rather nifty, in as much as being able to play as two of the best monsters from sci-fi, the real treat of the game is, surprisingly, the Marine campaign. As you ... Read the complete review

There are 2 versions of this game available. There is the original release in the brown box (see main image) with all its bug-ridden problems that you will need to download a few patches to play if you even want to think about getting close to completing it and theres the greatly repaired prepatched and much more playable Gold version. Most if not all of the bugs that plagued the original were fixed in the Gold version which also has extra weapons for both Predator & Marine, allows much easier access to the save system than the original release which greatly infuriated players and has 9 extra levels in both single player & deathmatch ... With me being big Aliens and Predator movie fan, my friend lent me his Aliens V Predator game. He said the 2nd disk was primarily used for installation and wasn’t really needed for the game as well as the 1st CD. I had previously read many reviews on it and tried to play the demos but my computer was too slow for it, I got a new computer and thought that it was to darn fast! My computer was super duper! But no it was just the game. You need to have quick reflexes and a strategy to play AvP. When you first play the game you are led to a creepy menu with creepy music which makes you think that the game play is going to be scarier, and indeed it is. You ... Read the complete review
