Advantages: Its just like the movie!!, its fun!, its scary!
Disadvantages: its hard even on easy but nice and challenging, you die quickly, its scary!
With me being big Aliens and Predator movie fan, my friend lent me his Aliens V Predator game. He said the 2nd disk was primarily used for installation and wasn’t really needed for the game as well as the 1st CD. I had previously read many reviews on it and tried to play the demos but my computer was too slow for it, I got a new computer and thought that it was to darn fast! My computer was super duper! But no it was just the game. You need to have quick reflexes and a strategy to play AvP. When you first play the game you are led to a creepy menu with creepy music which makes you think that the game play is going to be scarier, and indeed it is. You make a name and click on the new game and you are given a choice to play as a nice good hardcore Marine, a very nasty evil Alien or an ugly Predator. I went for a marine first thinking it would be easiest (you have difficulty levels to choose from as well). 10 minutes into the game and I was already dead from a head bite, I was too slow for this game. So I decided to play as one of the little fellows themselves. Playing as an alien takes some getting used to; firstly you have a different view from that of a Marine, you see everything in a sort of fish eye perspective and secondly you can crawl on walls, upside down and you can go really fast too! You really need practice to become a master at being an alien so patience is also needed to play this game. It takes a while as playing as an alien before you reach some fresh meat! The hunting view helps you to see your prey in the dark but in two second you are dead anyways. Maybe you would have better luck as a predator. You get onto the first level of the predator and a fuzzy almost TV like screen comes up, your health bar on the left in predator writing and your energy bar on the right. Your wrist blades come out and a little predator “grrr” is given and…boy do you feel in power. You can go invisible, you have the h
eat seeking view to find those worthless humans and the atmosphere is just great! There are 3 views to the predator for fighting humans, aliens and other predators and they all help you to see in the dark too. I found I lasted a lot longer as a predator, and even completed the first level in one go! (But died on the second about 2 mins into the game). The really good thing about it is, that I found, was that it is extremely like the movies, it makes you feel as though you starred in them! The levels are incredibly accurate, and the sounds of the weapons are the same too! Not to mention the predator sounds and gadgets (you even get a little heal thing on your arm which makes him scream when you use it! Just like the movies!!). Gold edition is exactly the same but with 2 new weapons for the marines and incredibly excellent and accurate levels which just make you tingle all over! AvP can get very frightening (especially in the end battles with the bitch herself!). After the end battles and after you have completed the games for one species you have access to bonus levels which are mighty hard but you get extra things like a grappling hook for the Predator and a Jet pack for the marine which is very fun to play with! The multiplayer is fantastically scary for obvious reasons, the aliens don’t just come out and kill you because they are not A.I, they sneak about and strike at the right moment (and its fun when you are doing the sneaking about. There are many options and many good levels to choose from, you can play tag, deathmatch or a co-op which is teaming together to battle a swarming horde of aliens (which is so fun it can go on for hours!). Over all the game is good. Good graphics, good play and a god damned good “wet ya pants” fright factor! If you like fast moving scary action games with hard-core killing that you are determined to get better at then this is the one for you. It improves your reflexes too
I noticed. I wouldn’t recommend it to people who have nightmares easily, sometimes I have dreams about killing aliens because of this, which is down right fun, but there are no other tricks to it. A recommended good buy! I can’t wait for AvP2 to come out, seen some screens and looks extremely good!
