'Alice' is a third person puzzle adventure platform game by American McGee. A dark and twisted adaptation of Lewis Carroll's classic works, American McGee's Alice uses plot elements of 'Alice in Wonderland' as well as 'Through the looking glass.' Despite not being a big fan of platformers myself, I found this one quite entertaining. Much of the emphasis in this game seems to be on plot. Following the death of her parents in a house fire, a young girl, Alice, becomes withdrawn and suicidal. She is subsequently placed in a mental asylum where she continues saying nothing comprehensible to anyone, often responding violently to any attempts at ... Read the complete review

American McGee`s Alice is based on Lewis Caroll`s children`s stories, Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass. Other than the name of the title character and the appearance of a few characters from the books, the game is nothing like the original stories but does draw heavily on them for inspiration. In the game Alice is an orphan and a schizophrenic whose family died in a fire. After the trauma Alice retreats into her warped version of Wonderland where she can regain her sanity by defeating the Queen of Hearts. The whole game is a warped caricature of the fairy-tale based world shown in both books and is definitely not a Disney version. ... Read the complete review

Tomb Raider, Starship Titanic, Discworld Noir, The Curse Of Monkey Island, Myst - are all games I've enjoyed playing on my PC, before then, The Legend Of Zelda:Links Awaking and Super Mario Land 2 and Wario Land - I loved playing on the Gameboy. I guess you can tell what kind of computer games I like, the action/adventure puzzle based type of stuff. American McGee's Alice is no different, its in a similar vein to Tomb Raider only sufficiently different enough so as not to be repetitive and is certainly something quite different. ~~Details~~ Using an enhanced version the Quake III game engine, Alice is a 3rd person action/adventure game ... Wonderland. Not a place for little kiddies, and probably not a place for grown men and women either, but nethertheless someone has got to save it. That means you Alice. Alice is one of the more orignial games of the last couple of years, incorporating a very nice set of graphics (courtesy of a much modified Quake 3 engine), a twisted storyline, and total replayability. Walking through this game you honestly do feel as though are taking a journey through Wonderland. The graphics are crisp and very detailed, and even the background are nice to look at. There is so much eye candy within the game, you can often find yourself getting distracted. The ... Read the complete review
