Advantages: Easy to learn and play
Disadvantages: Better similiar games around
Anno 1701 is a real time strategy game, the third in the series.
Story
The game is set in the 1800's and you have to build and maintain a colony in the New World., where you have to trade, defend and use diplomacy to survive and prosper in this New World.
Game play
You start of in the New World and you have to explore and colonise the world, finding the best areas to locate your colony. You have to expand your land whilst trading and defending them against the computer controlled opposition.
You have to farm, mine your raw materials and manufacture them to better products that you can sell to make a profit and expand your colony. You have to keep your citizens happy as well and try to bring in the tax to pay for your improvements, a lot of the game is building up your military to protect your colony.
Learning the basics of the game is pretty easy and the tutorial is pretty good so it is fairly to play although it is quite hard to complete as the AI is pretty good, a game you can play again once you have completed it.
Controls/Graphics
The graphics are pretty good for the game type and the camera angle are set up pretty well so you can zoom in and out with ease. The controls are set up for ease of use as well so you will not have too much problems controlling the games, although the short cut keys can be hard to remember at times.
Value for Money
The game itself is pretty good although there is better games that are similar on the market, the game play offered is quite large so can keep you entertained for hours, if you have a few hours to kill and can get it cheap it be well worth buying, a game that you can keep going back to.
Summary: A decent strategy game although not very long but will keep you occupied for a few hours
