I was quite a fan of Atlantis: The Lost Tales when it was first released in 1997. Indeed, when Atlantis II: Beyond Atlantis appeared shortly afterwards, I was rather dubious about whether it could possibly measure up to its illustrious elder sibling. In the end, I was dead impressed by the sequel – it was certainly more of an Empire Strikes Back than a Temple of Doom. First-person graphic adventures were here to stay. The New World is not exactly a disappointment, but there is a definite shift in form.
