Audiosurf: Only good in theory? (Audiosurf (PC))

Advantages: Play your own songs, easy to pick up and play, supports different input devices (including 360 pad) Disadvantages: I found it tedious after playing a few songs I have to say that this game has amazing features and also has great value for money; however, I can't say that it is for me. The aim of this game is to navigate your ship through lanes and collecting the same coloured blocks. Once you get 3 or more of the same colour, these are cleared from your accumulated blocks (in the picture above, the white squares are getting filled in with the accumulated blocks). To play this game, you import a song of your choice (an mp3) and it will convert this into a kind of race track. If the tempo of the song is fast, the track will slope down hill and be faster if it is slow, it will slope upwards. There are many different modes with various difficulties and features, including a "co-op" mode, where each person controls a different ship, you can have one person on each analog stick of the 360 pad. I first bought this game, as I have bought both of the rock band series, and guitar hero world tour. When I heard that you could import your own music collection I was sold. I have a 360 pad on my PC, so I use that to control. Even though I thought that this game would suit me down to the ground, it just was not for me. I found it to get boring very quickly. Unlike Rock Band, where I find I can just play through hours of career mode trying and completing each song, I just got bored after playing through a couple of songs. In conclusion, in theory this game is amazing, but it just did not play well to me. Summary: A clever game, just not for me |
