Advantages: Massive game, D&D license

Disadvantages: graphics dated a bit

I urge you to buy this game if you are all interested in CRPGs, especially officially licensed ones with the D&D ruleset, as this is what this game is all about.

The story is epic, and the game comes on either 1 DVD or 5 CDs. There are a lot of very large locations available to play, adn an awful lot of gameplay, plus a fair wodge of replayability due to the various classes of character available to play as. Choosing the right class can be very important, but you can pick up other members for your group along the way, upto a maximum of 6, and these guys can even attack each other if they don't get on with each other, although normally they just bicker whilst following you around.

The graphics look a little dated now, but are still pretty good at their job, nd the spell effects are well done, all without the need for a 3d graphics card, so this will play fine on low end pentiums, if you have an older PC.

The expansion pack is often bundled with the game now, and that adds yet more locations and lets you raise your characters levels yet further (there is an experience point cap so you can only get a certain number of spells in the game, but the later ones are devestating to the enemy!

Well worth buying, as it will keep you occupied for a long time!

Just one quick thing. For people who do have a very low end pc, just within the system requirements.... it is VERY slow going. I gave up playing in the end for about 6 months until I had upgraded my pc to a 750MHz duron with a 3D graphics card with 32 MB ram, and 256MB ram (from a 200MHz cyrix with 4 MB on board graphics memeory and 32MB ram!). I personally wouldn't recommend trying it with a low end pc unless you are very very patient! Altogether though a fab game, and a good opinion. I am looking forward to going home to play it now!
