Barbie and the fairy tale of Rapunzel unite for this PC game. (Barbie As Rapunzel Magic FairyTales (PC))

Advantages: From as young as 3 and will reinforce the fairy tale of Rapunzel.

Disadvantages: There are two different Barbie as Rapunzel games so ensure you choose well.

There are actually TWO versions of this game, so I will review both depending on which one you would like to buy.

The first one is called "Barbie magic fairy tales : Barbie as Rapunzel" and the newer version was simply called "Barbie as Rapunzel". My daughter has both versions and played the newer version ( Barbie as Rapunzel ) a lot more, so if you have the choice of the two I would buy the newer version because although the "Barbie magic fairy tales : Barbie as Rapunzel" version is great fun too, the newer version was based on the 2002 Barbie film "Rapunzel", so if your child loved the movie and would like to see the characters again then they may be disappointed with the older version which is merely based on the original 'fairy tale'.

This is the older version based on the original fairy tale and because of this it runs on a Windows 3.1/95/98 Windows operating system and Macintosh.

The game itself takes the form of an 'interactive book' and as you read along you will be required to take part in some games/activities to help Barbie. For example, you are given opportunities to leave the tale from time -to-time to dress Rapunzel, to play a game of concentration or a sorting game, or to navigate a maze for example. Please note that because the games are quite 'simple' in their gameplay they only have one level of play so for those children who like to improve on their previous attempt they may feel frustrated with the lack of options after their initial success.

I would recommend this for younger children ( 3 plus ) because it's quite limited and lacks the challenges that older children may seek.

For your older children (5+ ) I would recommend the newer version "Barbie as Rapunzel."

*Barbie as Rapunzel - Review *

As stated earlier, this game is based on the Barbie character and her those characters of her friends from the 2002 Barbie film "Rapunzel."

The storyline for this software programme however is based on an evil spell having been placed on the enchanted castle and has turned the handsome Prince Stefan to stone. Only you can help Barbie as Rapunzel bring beauty to the castle and save the kingdom in time for the Masquerade Ball and it's your creativity and imagination that is needed as you go on eight magical adventures redecorating every room of the castle and searching for missing gems to bring the Prince back to life.

These 8 magical adventures include creating animated paintings, dressing Rapunzel for the Masquerade Ball, design beautiful masquerade masks and decorate the royal thrones and more.
You can even create and print a magical memory scrapbook afterwards too.

My daughter played and played and played and played this game !! However, she loved to decorate and design so unless this interests your child too, they may find it repetitive and play it no more than once.

I would recommend this for ages 5+ but the more PC confident and/or advanced child could find their way around at a slightly younger age than this.

To conclude, I would take the time out to choose which version you would like to buy. Also, neither game is particularly educational but are just lovely and great fun for Barbie fans.
