Advantages: tons of vehicles and maps, 64 people at once

Disadvantages: Weak single player campaign, not like Call of Duty

Battlefield 1942 was developed by DICE who also made the other games in the Battlefield series. The series took first person shooters to a whole new level. The big draw to this game is you can have 64 players online at one time in a huge battlefield with tanks, jeeps, planes, aircraft carriers, submarines, AA guns all going crazy to capture command points.

The bad thing is really the single player campaign. Basically it's a multiplayer battle with AI instead of people. While there is a bit of a coherient multiplayer campaign, it really is just a way to practice and hone your skills before going online with the world. Battlefield has another HUGE advantage and that is MODS.

No other game since half-life has spawned such a good modder community and so many interesting mods. There is Star Wars, Pirates (with ships and all), jeep racing, mad max type maps, and of course the super famous Desert Combat which was the basis for Battlefield 2 and the team went on to make Frontlines.

Summary: Fast paced amazing multiplayer combat
