Battlefield 2 is a online first person shooter game which allows you to play with other players online on maps of size up to 64 man servers!

So whats on battlefield 2?
Battlefield 2 has a huge array of different levels, honestly, i have no idea how many, each one coming with a 16, 32 and 64 man server. Whats more, is that with a bit of know how, you can edit your own level and make a server of it (you need to rent a server to do this), so the different number of levels are potentially endless! Whats more, is that some people write "patches" for battlefield 2, for example, the AIX patch, which is almost a completely different game, just using the bf2 as a template, so doesn't take much room, and can allow you to play with even more countries, maps, weapons and so on!
This game also has a huge number of weapons. Each team (china, usa and mec) has its own weapon for each troop, e.g. the USA assault kits weapons is the M16 with a grenade launcher, the MEC is the AK 101 with grenade launcher, and the chinese is a AK 47 with grenade launcher. There is also a "unlockable" weapon for each solider class, in the example of the assalt troop, is a K2. As there are 7 classes, this results in 28 main weapons, which when you include grenades, pistols, knives and the anti tanks missiles, adds even more weapons!
Furthermore, there is a huge range of fully drivable vehicles, from helicopters, planes, boats, armoured personal carriers, tanks, hummers and FAVs! The only problem with these are that either there are too few per level, so you wont get to drive them around much, or there are too many, so everyone just ends up in a vehicle.
There are 7 sets of troop, each with different advantages and disadvantages. They are:
Assault: The "standard" solider, has a powerful gun, grenade launcher and smoke grenades, most popular unit choice as also has high armour. Assault troops are also quite quick!
Support: Has a big heavy machine gun, so is quite slow, but packs a punch! Has the most armour compared to other troops, and can resupply teammates with ammo packs
Sniper: Says it all in the name really. Are very quick, have claymore mines, and use rifles to take down foes
Anti tank: Has low armour, and only a weak main gun, but also sports a missile launcher for taking out tanks, and entrenched enemies. On of my favourite classes!
Engineer: Has a shotgun, and anti vehicles mines, so a good all rounder if used well. Also has a spanner for fixing up team's vehicles
Medic: Has a good gun, (normally the same as assault, just without the grenade launcher), but weaker armour than assault. This class can heal others as well as its self with medical packs, and can revive recently killed teamates (within around 10 seconds maybe) with a defrib.
Special ops: Has a carbine gun (good at close range as is fast, but at medium-long range, a little useless) and C4 packs. The C4 can be placed, and detonated remotely, to take out bridges, enemy vehicles (tanks mostly, as most others go too fast for you to keep up) and enemy support units (read bellow under commander mode).

You can also "support" fellow troops, with ammo kits, health packs, spanners (for fixing vehicles) and defribs (for reviving team mates). This helps your team "stay in the game". You can also "command" your side, by being the commander, and not only giving orders to squads, but also by aiding your team through UAV scans, artillery strike, crate drop (crates have health and ammo in), but beware, if an enemy special forces troop plants a C4 on on off say the cannons or on the control units, then you will lose that support action until it is repaired by an engineer!

The only disadvantages are:
Lagging, due to loads of people on the servers at times, not much of a problem if you have a decent internet
And, you need to rent servers if you want your own, but i never have rented one, so i couldn't give you a price.

I highly recommend this game. It has great graphics, lots of different teams and levels, and there are no subscription costs like other online games, which means that in the long run, this game is cheaper than others!

Summary: A great buy!
