Advantages: so unpredictable
Disadvantages: need top PC
This game is the ultimate army game for the PC. When you load up, you enter an online battlefield, and take the place of a soldier of your choosing (medic, assault, sniper, repair etc) playing against real people from around the world. I've clocked up 500 hours of gameplay (mostly as a sniper) and have loved every minute. You need the DVD to play it, but you basically enter an online scenario and fight in a virtual world (it's dead cool!)
Because you're playing against real people, there's no way you can predict what your opponent is going to do; it's not computer generated and predictable, so you may be able to sneak up behind your opponent and knife them, or they may spot you and shoot you dead! You can join squads and use your microphone to discuss tactics in real-time with your team - more often that not you'll be chatting to someone in a different country!
As you build up your ranking, you can unlock bigger and better weapons. Top players in each round win medals, and statistics for all 1 million players can be viewd on the web.
Depending on the mood you're in you can do whatever you like; it may be that you want to fly helicopters around for an hour, or maybe drive car, or snipe or medic - whatever you want to do you can have a totally unique gaming experience and it's just brilliant.
The only down-side is that, when starting out, you get completely killed to pieces by your oponents who are so good. It takes a good fifty hours play to be able to reach the skill level where you can hold your own, which is a lot of work to get to a decent level.
The graphics are brilliant - very realistic, and you need a top graphics card to play. To be fair, the sound is pretty basic, but that doesn't bother you when you're in the heat of battle.
All in all, an excellent war game!
Summary: do it
