Battlefield Heroes (PC)
Advantages: Free, fun, easy to get used to it, learning curve
Battlefield heroes is a fun, free, cartoon first person shooter created by EA games. For people who have played the other battlefield games, i.e battlefield 2, 2142, and 1943, it is very similar and therefore easy to get into.
The best thing about this game, is that it is completely free to sign up and play against your friends (there are things you have to pay for, mentioned later). All you need to do is go on the battlefield heroes website, create a hero, install the client through your browser and you are ready to go.
When you create your hero, the first thing you have to do is choose what side they are on, the royal army or the national army. Neither team has an advantage, its just preference. You can create up to 3 soldiers from the different teams.
Once you have chosen what faction you want to be, you then choose what time of soldier you want to be. The choices are soldier, gunner and commando. The soldier uses shotguns and small machine guns. The gunner uses heavy machine guns. The commando is a sniper and also has a knife. Each of the free categories have abilities you can unlock specific to them. For example, the commando can unlock an invisibility perk.
The gameplay is the same as the old battlefield games; two teams battle to capture flags (which double up as spawn points) and every time a player dies their team loses a point. Within the game, there are vehicles; jeeps, tanks and aeroplanes. This all adds up to a fantastic game which is very fun. The game is only online, so you need an internet connection. The battlefield heroes system works very well, as when you join a game, it tries to join you up with players at a similar level to you.
As you play through the game you earn VPs (Valor points) and HPs (hero points). VPs are earned by just playing the game (killing people, destroying vehicles, capturing flags). VPs go towards buying clothes, weapons, emotes (ability for your hero to say things) and widgets (items that help you in game by healing you or repairing vehicles). When you earn enough VPs, you level up and earn HPs. These go towards buying abilties (as mentioned above) for your hero.
The only part of this game that costs is when buying Battlefunds. These are used to buy specific clothing, widgets and emotes. This isn't necessary, so even if you do not pay for the game; you can enjoy it.
This game comes highly recommended from me. The gameplay is fun, simple and easy to come to grasps with. Give it a go, its free!
Summary: Give it a go
