Battlefield Heroes (PC)
Advantages: Its free to play, has vehicles, a few good maps, has 3 classes, lots of items in shop
Disadvantages: Players who pay real money have the advantage, not a great deal of maps to play
Well the Battlefield series has run for quite a while now, however this is the first cartoon iteration of the series. Despite being cartoony and featuring no blood ect. the game still managed to get the 16+ age rating instead of the original 12+ it received.
The game is entirely online, played in 12 vs 12 battles, there is no offline or LAN modes.
The game is similar to other Battlefield games, except the maps are significantly smaller, although still larger than those in games such as CoD. It still contains some vehicles, such as Jeeps and Tanks, as well as Planes, but as its based in the World Wars, there are no Helicopters. Also the game is played from a 3rd person perspective instead of a 1st person like the other Battlefield games, a 1st person perspective maybe available.
The game contains 3 classes to choose from, the Gunner, a heavily armed soldier with some high fire power weapons, the Soldier, who is an all round class, usually equipped with an assault rifle and detonation packs, and the Commando, a stealth unit who relies on not being seen in order to stay alive, usually equipped with a knife or a light weapon.
I haven't played the game in a while, i played it in October 2009, as i managed to get a beta key, back then there was only about 3 maps, im unsure as to whether EA have added anymore maps, however i do know EA still update the game.
The shop has a lot of items available for each class, the most expensive of which can take several weeks of gameplay to achieve.
A recent update changed the pricing system of the game, although still allowing players to play 4 free, EA made the items available in the game using in-game currency more expensive and items that require real currency to purchase cheaper. EA reported almost no decrease in the amount of players using their game.
The game is fairly well, its a free alternative to the other Battlefield games, and is still a decent game, i recommend you to give it a quick test drive.
Summary: A good game, if you like battlefield this is a good game to check out, its free, why not?
