Advantages: gameplay
Disadvantages: needs good PC
This has to be the most eagerly awaited game of the year. This game has been designed and created by Peter Molyneux. Who has to be one of the best game designers. The game is based around the player being the GOD. Imagine the gameplay of Populus with the sadistic dark humour of Dungeon Keeper and you have Black & White. The game starts off with a simple village community of people and animals. Help them and they will begin to grow, both in number and faith. After a while, you are rewarded with an avatar -an infant beast, which becomes the primary source of your power and a reflection of your divinity. If you train it well, it will protect people and behave responsibly; if not, it will systematically mistreat everything it comes across. Remember though. Black and White is a game of cause and effect and predicting how your people will react is always entertaining. Though they may flock to your cause, their economies will be ruined and their value lessened, so think hard before you smite. Whichever path you choose, other Gods will eventually come calling and they too have avatars. This introduces combat, which is part beat-'em-up (kicks and punches) and part role-playing game (spells and ranged attacks). Some might find the user interface pretty confusing while other with find it a doddle. The mouse directly controls your onscreen hand. Casting spells, for instance, relies on drawing simple shapes or patterns on-screenThat aside, this is a deep, gorgeous and intriguing game. It's not perfect and is occasionally very frustrating but no one said being God was an easy job. One bad point is that you need very high specs on your pc.
