When I say the word Nintendo what do you think of? Great adventures, brilliant first person shooters and stunning alternative racers, so what about serious beat 'em ups? thought not. It hasn?t been a market Nintendo have looked at since the SNES era with Killer Instinct and you can hardly call Smash Brothers a "serious" beat 'em up can you? When you pause to think about fighting games it's quite likely that you'll instantly think of Tekken, Virtua Fighter and possibly even the Street Fighter series. Today the supreme rulers of the genre are generally Tekken and Dead Or Alive whilst Virtua Fighter 4 is enjoying a multi-format update.
