When I say the word Nintendo what do you think of? Great adventures, brilliant first person shooters and stunning alternative racers, so what about serious beat 'em ups? thought not. It hasn?t been a market Nintendo have looked at since the SNES era with Killer Instinct and you can hardly call Smash Brothers a "serious" beat 'em up can you? So with Dead or Alive on the X-box, Virtual Fighter and Tekken on the PS2 and Soul Calibur going multi format what exactly is left for Nintendo? Bloody Roar has always taken a back seat to the above series of games, it was never graphically stunning, the gameplay was nice and solid yet nothing spectacular ...

When you pause to think about fighting games it's quite likely that you'll instantly think of Tekken, Virtua Fighter and possibly even the Street Fighter series. Today the supreme rulers of the genre are generally Tekken and Dead Or Alive whilst Virtua Fighter 4 is enjoying a multi-format update. The thing is, Nintendo are the ones who seem to have missed out on all the action. Sure, we all loved Goldeneye and Zelda on the N64 but where were the decent fighting games?
