Advantages: addictive, fun, educational
Disadvantages: none
Even thinking about Book Worm just delayed me writing this review as i had to have a quick five minute fix of it!
As you may be able to tell if you've read my other reviews, im easily hooked on games by Mumbo Jumbo but the reason is that they are quality through and through.
The best thing about Book Worm in my opinion is the fact that it can help you to learn new words. The game is based around a library and books in general and gives you a small side-kick in the form of the worm shown in the product image. He'll tell you hints and tips throughout the game and even tell you the meaning of some of the words you're putting in.
The game gives you a selection of letters in an almost honey-comb style grid and the idea is to use letters to join up to form words with a minimum of 3 letter words allowed. As your points build up you'll go up in levels which are awarded in the form of various jobs such as Librarian and Publisher. As you progress the letters given are a bit more random, making you think more, with evil fiery letters appearing for less imaginative words. The fiery letters will eat down the row it is on turn by turn if you don't use it up. If it reaches the bottom it'll burn your grid of letters and you'll fail.
The music is light hearted and appropriate with tense music when the fiery letters appear. There are two modes, Classic and Action, with the first simply being a case of following the game through until you fail and the second seeming to be faster paced and more difficult (though no explanation of the differences is given).
Overall the game is fun, entertaining and you'll learn some new words along the way (when you get desperate you might try some random ones that will be right, a changing bar across the top will turn green when you have a correct word)
Summary: Overall the game is fun, entertaining and you'll learn some new words along the way!
