Build-a-lot (PC game) I chose to review this game simply because it's very different from all the games which make you have a nice career; this game makes you play the role of a capitalist. The idea is that you move from one town to the other to improve them, supposedly, and achieve all the goals in a given period of time. You are asked to build different kinds of houses and buildings, earn a specific rental income, or earn cash. To achieve these goals, you have to choose exactly what you have to build and demolish, and this requires certain calculations. You can build the following kinds of houses: Rambler, Colonial, Tudor, Estate, Mansion, and Castle. ... Read the complete review

Looking to kill an afternoon? Well Build-a-lot might just be for you. I discovered it back when it was the daily featured game on the bigfishgames.com website and was immediately attracted to the lovely colourful graphics and shining overview. I downloaded the hour-long demo, which I found lasted over enough levels to persuade me to buy the game. The game starts with an easy to follow tutorial, which spans the first three levels in a "learn-as-you-go" format, which made learning the game easy, but also easily switched off! Build a Lot is a game where you played as a property developer. You can buy a empty lot, build something in it, you can buy a house, repaint it, repair it, upgrade it and sell it again with higher price. You can buy houses so you would get rent payments per month. You would get harder and harder challenge in every levels in the game. The idea of this game is very interesting. After some levels you would be able to unlock some items and blueprint of new housings. Better housings would make you greater money. I like this game because it involving strategy and money. But after hours playing this game, everything started to be boring. Not only the ... Read the complete review

It's always the simple games that are the most addictive and Build a Lot is no different. The game is not very complicated and is in fact pretty repetitive but that doesn't stop me spending hours at a time on it and completely losing track of time. The best way to view Build a lot is as a very basic version of Sim City. The whole point of the game is to go from neighbourhood to neighbourhood and build a certain amount of houses (be they Ramblers, Colonials, Tudors, Estates, Mansions, or Castles). Each house you buy will give you a certain amount of rental income and very often one of the level goals is to reach a certain amount of income. Obviously the bigger ... Read the complete review
