Advantages: Excellent gameplay and it looks good too!

Disadvantages: Need a reasonable PC, but works well on low settings

Six months after it's release this is still the best First Person Shooter out there. Surpassing newer games like Vegas 2 in terms of gameplay and looks. This game accomplishes something miraculous - both Call of Duty UO and Call of Duty 2 players have taken to it. It manages to keep the same 'feel' of the previous games while dropping you smack in the middle of the modern age and modern warfare.

The single player is excellent, the only downfall being that it's pretty short. But that's not unusual with First Person Shooters. The place where this game sets itself apart is in the multiplayer aspect. You can 'Creat a Class' which means choosing your weapon and a choice of three 'perks'. To give you a little taster here are a few of my favourites: C4 (trip mine); Sleight of hand (reload faster); UAV radar jammer; Dead Silence (be sneaky); Deep Impact (increased penetration damage). These are just a few of the 20 odd perks you have to choose from. So you can imagine, your kit can be very personal to you and your gaming style. You're unlikey to find another person on the server with exactly the same kit.

There are seven main multiplayer gametypes: Search and Destroy; Headquarters; Domination (capturing 3 points on the map); Team Death Match; Free-For-All; and Sabotage (like SnD but you respawn). You will also find many modified servers out there with things like Capture the Flag and Tactical Gameplay.

Much has been said about the looks of COD 4 and I have to admit on high settings it's a beautiful game. Although you do wander around looking at everything for a while and get shot a lot! For me though it's the gameplay that matters, not the looks. And this game holds it's own in both areas.

For hardcore online gamers let me assure you this game is one you should have in your collection. I know too many people with over 300 hours gameplay racked up. For more casual players, this game is easy to pick up and there are weapons (like the P90) that anyone can kill people with!

Summary: If you enjoy any other First Person Shooter you need this game!
