Advantages: Graphics, Gameplay and intense action
Disadvantages: Bad online play on PC and game seems to be over too quickly
Call Of Duty 4 (COD 4) is a single player first-person shooter video game, with great attention to detail with regards to the graphics.
This game has got to be one of the best games I have ever owned, the graphics are insanely good and the game play is very realistic you feel as if you're in the game.
I have completed this game 3 times on the different difficulty levels and will probably have another go again in the near future. The graphics and cut scenes make the game feel like you are watching a movie. The game is quite easy to complete on the ROOKIE mode but a good starting point to get to grips with the game controls, ramp up to the harder levels as you feel more confident and you can really enjoy the experience as well as the challenge then.
The storyline is very interesting and really grabs your attention and interest to continue with the missions. Each mission is very realistic and fits within the story. The ending is great and really gets the heart pumping (I won't give away too much). I did feel a little sad at the end of the game though as I felt like I wanted more, hence the reason for playing the game again. Would have been nice to have more meat in the story as it just feels like its over way to quickly, congratulations to the game makers though as I rarely feel emotion towards a storyline.
Strangely enough I haven't played all of the Call of Duty games In the series and found Call of Duty 3 (which I have played) a little boring and lacking in the graphics and game play that's present in COD 4.
One issue with this game is the Online Play on PC, and to put it bluntly the online play is absolute rubbish. I have heard that that the online play on XBOX 360 is actually quite good but I don't rate it on the PC and gave up very quickly with this.
Only problem with buying this for the PC is you do need a pretty good specification. I have an nVidia 8800 GTX and 4Gb of RAM with the latest Quad Core CPU etc and can run the game on the highest settings to get the best out of the graphics. I'm sure this game can be run on an average but you won't get the full experience and graphics intensity with a basic spec PC.
Who knows what Call Of Duty 5 will bring, but I will be one of the first in the queue to pick up my copy.
Summary: Worth a purchase, just make sure your PC is up to the specification to place this
