Advantages: Really nice graphically, wide range of weapons, realistic sounds several multiplayer modes

Disadvantages: Single player is quite short, you need a decent graphics card to see the games full potential

I've been a fan of the Call of Duty series of games on the PC since the first game came out back in 2003. The series began back in the World War II era and continued in this period until this releases name suggests - Cod 4: Modern Warfare. The latest release is also now available CoD 5: World at War and there is a new one in the pipeline due out in time for the Christmas market (as most of the COD games before it have been) due in November 2009 which will revert back to the World War II era.

***CoD 4 Released Date***
November 2007

***Suggested Minimum Requirements***
Microsoft Windows XP/Vista
2.4GHz Dual Core Processor
1G RAM (2G for Vista recommended)
8GB HDD Space
nVidia Geforce 7800, ATI Radeon X1800 or equivalent (3.0 Shader Support recommended) or better

I ran this on a Core 2 Duo E6750 processor, 2GB Ram and an 8800GT graphics card and I can run it on full settings, it runs exceptionally well at the highest settings.

***Single Player Campaign***
By far the best single campaign to date including the COD5 game in my opinion but disappointingly short, I managed to complete this game on normal difficulty in just over 4 hours - to make it more challenging I started again on the most difficult mode and it took me about 6 hours. You start off as a USMC marine and you jump back and forth between missions from either being a USMC soldier or SAS trooper. The game is played out mostly in the middle east and russia.

There are some very fine battles you need to play throughout this game, my favourite being the one where you are on an SAS sniper mission with your sniper spotter McMillan, you are to take out the head bad guy and as soon as you take him out all hell breaks loose - you need to flee the scene with McMillan and there is a really nice touch added on this mission which involves you having to carry McMillan in between fighting the enemy off (and their dogs!) all the back to your evac chopper.

***Multiplayer***
This is where the entire COD series come into their own in my opinion. There is no better online first person shooter. There are several game types available from Free For All (Deathmatch), Domination, Team Deathmatch, Search and Destroy, Headquarters and more. One of the nicest things about the game is the experience aspect, as you play more and hit specified goals and targets in the game this unlocks more weaponry and skills to you and increases your deadliness. The weapons range from Desert Eagle pistols to Barratt .50 cal sniper rifles that do serious damage, even though walls! You can also equip yourself with different perks such as the ability to move really quietly so that your footsteps aren't heard or the last stand perk that when you are taken down you are given a final shot at the enemy as you lie on the ground dying with your handgun.

***Tips***
Get yourself a mic and headset, the game includes the ability to chat to your teammates on multiplayer (or you could use a separate program such as Teamspeak or Ventrillo while playing).

***Summary***
A must-have game for first person shooter multiplayer fans, there is just so much to the game weapon wise, tactically and game type that you just have to give it a go. If you play it for any length of time at all someone will ask you to join their squad and you can play in ladder tournaments etc and the fun really begins.

Hope this review has been of some use to you, if you get this game you will not be disappointed.

Summary: One of the finest single person shooters ever made and phenomenal as multiplayer.
