One problem had with the previous game was the short missions and short game play, this time the single player game is longer. In single player mode there are some cool extra features during game play which make it fell and play better and makes the game more fun. Features like mine defusing, binoculars through which you able to call in air strikes, missions where you have to use a ant...more

Premium Review Call of Duty World at War (PC): Bloody brilliant (428 words)
by - written on 25/08/09 (Very useful, 9 readings)
Rating:

I was sceptical about this game and have heard some really bad press about it. I've never been a fan of WW2 games but since playing Medal of Honour: Airborne I quite like them now. But I held off on the purchase because of the price and now I get to play it. As games go the Call of Duty series is a great benchmark in the FPS genre, I played COD4 and was impressed but I didn't rush out to buy COD-WAW. At the time I wasn't sold in on the WW2 genre and didn't think I'd like it. Once I got into the genre I loved it and then a month of two down the line I buy this game. It's fair to say the graphics are amazing and as with COD4 are the best they can get at the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Call of Doody (860 words)

I was never a huge fan of games set during World War 2 and although I had enjoyed Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, I wasn't particularly taken by CoD5. Even when fellow members of a football forum I frequent were being very vocal and enthusiastic about the game, I still wasn't rising to it... until I found myself off work over Christmas, bored and with little to do. As first person shooters are my genre of preference, I trundled down to Game with my wallet in my hand and... I paid £30 for CoD5 - the most I've spent on any PC game, ever. I hate it. It's terrible. Graphically and aurally, you really can't fault it. It does look ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Call of Duty World at War (PC): Doesn't really cut the mustard. (668 words)

The fifth installment in the Call of Duty franchise takes us back to WW2, but does it take us back to the Call of Duty UO and CoD2 days? Well, yes and no. The game falls somewhere between the earlier games and CoD4. In theory this should mean it appeals to anyone who's ever enjoyed a Call of Duty game. Unfortunately, the reverse is probably closer to the truth. Personally, I prefer CoD2 over all the others and I was left feeling disappointed. It basically feels like you're playing CoD4 but your weapons look different. And the weapons don't function in the same way as they did in the earlier games. For example, I was looking forward to getting back the the powerful, ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Call Of Duty: World At War is a good game! (718 words)

Call Of Duty: World At War is the newest in the long line of Call Of Duty Titles (number 5 to be precise). It is a first person shooter. This game is based in World War II, mainly the Pacific War and the Easter Front. Unlike its predecessor Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare, which had modern weapons and a modern setting. The game contains single player and multiplayer content. In single player/ campaign mode, you fight along side computer controlled soldiers to defeat the enemy. There is probably about ten hours of solid gameplay. This is not paticularily long, but it means the game does not drag on. The campaign can also be played co-operatively with ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Call of Duty World at War (PC): World At War (1092 words)

Call of Duty 5: World at War, is the fifth installment in the call of duty series. However, it is worth mentioning here that it is made not by the original developers "Infinity Ward" but by another company called Treyarch who were responsible for Call of Duty 3 as well as some other games. Those that know call of duty 3 will know it was a bit rubbish, to be blunt. So when i heard that these chaps were making Call of Duty 5, i was less than impressed. Infinity Ward have always done a better job with the series. However, I gave it a chance and I am glad I did. My initial comment is that Call of Duty World at War is a more gritty, grown up outing than ...  Read the complete review
