Advantages: lots and lots of fun
Disadvantages: stop going out and live in front of this game!
Just like the original, a roadkill driving simulation. Not for the squeamish. Carmageddon 2's main objective seems to be racking up points by driving over your victims. Bonus points are awarded for style and various powerup's are available along the way. Well all of you sickos out there are going to download and play this anyway so what's the point of telling you if it's any good or not, right? So this is for all the un-corrupted people out there who haven't had the pleasure of lowering the population level with their automobile in the first Carmageddon game. Folks, you haven't lived until you've relished the thrill of using the locals for speedbumps, laughed in the face of pedestrian crossings and given your tired looking car a fresh coat of body paint. And once you've been locked inside jail for the rest of your life, you can play this great game, too. A bit of fiddling about gets rid of the pesky time limit, so you can sit back and relish the visceral visuals for as long as you like. City streets are lined with impressively detailed buildings and other set-pieces such as mailboxes and street lights. And, of course, there are innocent civilians just minding their own business, not at all suspecting that they are nothing but bonus points to you. Oh, what kind of world do we live in when a game like this can be played by young children? Not a bad one really, because Carmageddon 2 is a lot of fun. Recommended to all the grown-ups who should really know better.
