Advantages: A classic game

Disadvantages: Get a more up-to-date version

Covering the 98/99 season, this football management game is a little out of date now, but when it was released it did phenomenally well, sitting at number 1 in the all formats top ten for some weeks (quite an achievement for a PC game). Without doubt the best football management game (at least until the updated and slightly tweaked 99/00 edition was released) available, CM3 let you do everything that you could think of, from assembling an all-star team in Italy to guiding Kettering town out of the Conference to glory.
Do well enough and you could think about getting an international job (although somehow Keegan always did alright in Euro 2000 and sometimes went on to win the World Cup, so the England job was tough to get hold of), which you could have at the same time as your regular team.
However if you don’t own this game, I wouldn’t bother buying it. Why not? Well, you can pick up CM 99/00 edition for about £15 now the season is over, and that brings a few new features and is obviously more up to date. Also, I imagine there’ll be another version out before long, so die-hard fans should perhaps wait for that.
