Advantages: addictive, enjoyable footy management game
Disadvantages: very similar to previous versions, no background music when you are not playing matches, no team editor
Having owned all the other versions of Championship Manager I must admit I was really looking forward to this new version of the game with updated teams and also a new menubar setup within the game. The game itself is made by Eidos who pride themselves on making the most successful Management game. Championship Manager 4 doesnt have many changes overall apart from a new menubar in the game and also a new 2D image in which you are able to watch the game you are playing. The game itself is strictly managerial and your job should you wish to accept it, is to guide your team to win the league and cups. On your road to victory you are able to set the players instructions, for example, where to pass the ball to, to cross the ball and long range shooting to name a few. You are also able to buy new players from teams, and also offer players a trial when they are employed with a different team which is a new option on this version. The main downfall of the game would be that there is no background music, nor an editor so you can create your dream team. I imagine you will find an editor somewhere on the net but surely you should be given the option if you are going to be asked to fork out £30 on a game. Another downfall of the game is, if you are playing with more than one country selected your game will play a lot slower. I am using a 2.66ghz computer with plenty of RAM and I have noticed it runs a lot slower with multiple leagues selected so beware of playing with too many leagues. Overall quite a good game but not a great deal different from the previous version, if you are a football fan and do not own any of the previous versions its worth buying although if you have previous versions of the game there isnt a great deal of difference to persuade you to part with £30.

- 08/04/03 You say you have plenty of RAM I was just wondering what RAM the game actually needs? |

- 02/04/03 how can you say youve played all the previous versions of Champ Man, and then say something so trivila like "Theres no music inbetween matches". CM is a serious computer application, it isnt "Disney Soccer Mouse Manager" |
