Advantages: Fun, Better than before
Disadvantages: Addictive, Time consuming
Second season, Arsenal: Canizares Trabelsi Cole Campbell Bonera Pires Kewell Viera Aimar Mido Henry That's right, with this latest insatallment of Championship Manager teams like that are not just a dream for the current Arsenal fan suffering despair in the Champions League, it is reality. I have owned this game for around four months now, and, I have to admit, I am only really getting into it now. This delay was due to the (small) number of negative factors this game possesses: 1) The size of the database is such that the gameplay is far slower that previous versions. This means more waiting around watching scores like Hartlepool 0-0 Cambridge flash up at the bottom of your screen. 2) I think almost everyone finds wheeling and dealing the most fun part of this game. I bet 99% of people reading this who owned the last version ended up wih huge profits and awesome teams, as this was easy. This is not the case. Alright, I seem to have done okay on the team above, but selling, in particular, is a tricky business. For a start clubs do not start with as much money as previously. Unfortunately the Abramovich revolution occurred weeks after the release of this game, so Chelsea are relatively poor. Having experimented being numerous teams and getting sacked numerous times, the game started to grow on me. It requires a bit more nous and lots more time (previously one season=c. 4 hours, now c. 10 hours), but it is a good challenge. Positives include: 1) The new match situation, which shows a birds eye view of the highlights of the match. This is great, far better. 2) Although the size of the database can be a hinderance, the detail in this game is astonishing. 3) The fact that, once again, anyone can manage any club, and do whatever he/she likes. Basically, Championship Manager is back! Altogether, then, this game is terrific. It takes a bit of getting used
to, but once you are there it is hard to quit.

- 26/10/03 Mido one of the best strikers on this game, although he's better at Utd! |

- 26/10/03 Tend to agree with janharper below, a bit more of an explanation of the game would be helpful although too much and you could confuse and put off newbies to the great game.
I now have this game (£19.99 at 'Game') and one of the early 'problems' I've encountered is trying to get to grips with the training schedules and how best to impliment them. |

- 26/10/03 Great stuff if you know all about playing this type of game but what about those people like me who haven't got a clue? More info on how its played, ease of use, etc would be useful. At least that would give me enough info to decide if I want to buy it for a Christmas for someone. |
