Now, I'm going to be honest with you - I've never ever been fond of the Civilization titles, so when PCRP received Test Of Time for review I was less than pleased. After installing it and loading it up, the first thing that made me cringe was the fact that TOT runs in a full screen window - aaaaaahhh! Some people obviously think that this is a good thing, but me - I HATE IT. Playing a game like this cannot possibly fully immerse you into the game, instead you just notice the big bar at the top of the screen and the 'Start' menu at the bottom which sticks out like a sore thumb. I know a lot of people out there are avid followers ... Read the complete review

This is a game that I got as a present and it was worth it's weight in diamonds. It is a game that heralds all power hungry people to try and see if they can overcome the test of time and take over the world. There are many different formats to encompass your time and these range from the Fantasy world, where you can bring upon the days of fire and the Mad God's rage with the dragon people or discover solid hydrogen and wipe out complete races with your psionic robots in the Science Fiction game. For those who do not know, Civ II is a fairly simple game (in theory) where you start with a single settler at the dawn of the stone age, and develop your civilization until you reach the dawn of the space age. Turnbased, not brilliant graphically, and on the machines of the day almost painfully slow during the computers turns, it might not sound much, but the simple interaction between your actions, the world around you and a bunch of other civilizations all determined to dominate the world addictive in the extreme. A sideeffect of this is that ... Read the complete review

Civilization is a game, as an amateur historian making a presentation at your local library might say, steeped in history. From the very first incarnation back on the old Amiga, to the current Civ3 under development as we speak, it is a brand name rivalled by few others in the gaming world. Civiliation II: Test of Time always faced a somewhat unenviable task, then, but in many respects it has quite capably lived up to expectations. For those unfamiliar with the Civilization series, a brief explanation is warranted. The premise is simple - starting in 4000BC, you must build and develop a civilization from scratch, with the ultimate goal of conquering the planet ... Read the complete review
