Advantages: An okay game

Disadvantages: But it's the same as Red Alert

I was expecting so much from this game after I completed the original so many years ago. On a mental high after hitting the Eiffel tower with an ion cannon, I looked in awe as the clunky battle suit shot some stuff and made it explode.
Many long years later it finally arrived, and my expectation had changed. What? They're not using polygons? The fools. What? Only a handful of units compared to TA? Oh dear.
But, I suspended by cynicism and got down to playing the game. The presentation and cut scenes are top-notch, as you would expect, but the game doesn't seem to have moved on since Red Alert! Okay, there are a few good ideas, but Westwood seem to have had their heads in the sand and not watched the genre develop over the years. In their arrogance they seem to assume that what they produce will still cut it, when, in fact, it doesn't.
How can they justify something like this? It's not actually a bad game, but they've spent years on it, for Heaven's sake! Where has the time gone? It's more of the same! If they'd gone all 3D I could have understood. If there were hundreds of different unot types and special troops, I could understand. But no. I feel really let down that they've put something this formulaic out, knowing that people are going to buy it because of the name.
