Well, I had been looking forward to Crysis pretty much since I heard the makers of Far Cry were having another shot at a games with the Cry Engine but have created a totally new version, the Cry Engine 2. I couldn't wait for this game in all its directx 10 gorgeousness and flashy graphics for a hungry pc which I had been pretty much constantly upgrading since I heard about this game.

Well the time finally arrived and I thought it was worth a buy so I ran out, got it and installed it... installation took a while, I think it's a 10gb install file. Then it's time to play, the game started and on the monitor I had then which had a max resolution of 1280 x 1024 it all ran perfectly on the highest graphics, there is even a great "realistic mod" you can download which makes the lighting look better. I realised after about a few days of having my jaw droppwed by AMAZING and I hate to talk about graphics this way but c'mon they are amazing and finally a game engine which doesn't just spill vast amounts of light into your face and considers it cutting edge (errm, halo 3). The gameplay is lacking a little but OMG LOOK HOW THE TREES BREAK and the ai have an insane ability to see you from miles away and use their cheaply made Korean rifles to shoot you no matter how well you hide from miles away. "Just like FarCry" I thought as I pushed further through the game. Without ruining the story to much there ARE ALIeNS thats right ALIENS but don't worry, no matter what anyone says, they are cool , they look amazing and the spaceship level is a work of genius.

It's almost as if the entire spaceship level was designed in a material which looks like metal but is totally different, all scratched but neat. If you're a gamer, this MUST be seen!

To sum it up, big hollywood blockbuster style story featuring more big men with guns and super suits (urgh). It does feature the BEST graphics bar non but at a huge performance price, you need a good rig, and not just what PC world says a good rig is, an actual gaming machine here otherwise you are just throwing moneys away with this game. The AI is a little dissapointing, the sounds are amazing, graphics are great, its a little buggy, badly written and you'll hate that it looks so good that you have to forgive it, this game IS a must but not for all the right reasons... HAS TO BE SEEN!
