      Challenging if you're a toddler

I must preface my review by saying that I'm not especially a huge fan of CSI; I thought the show started well, but very quickly became a formulaic and procedural show that just happens to have good actors. While the few CSI games I've played were occasionally fun as a sort of novelty, the novelty has worn off by this, the fifth game in the series, and it doesn't even benefit from the presence of the show's voices, because they've all had soundalikes do it for them. I think the fact that the majority of the actors were not involved with it really cements how uninspired and just pretty drossy this game is. It might satisfy for a few minutes, but as soon as I cleared through this game's short and overly simple set of tasks, I sold it and never looked back.

The game has you investigating five crimes - largely murders, but one that was simply a murder attempt - and they are gloriously ridiculous and flimsy as the scenarios you'd see on the show. With each crime, you work with a different member of the CSI, each of which is one of the main characters on the show. Your goal is to comb through the crime scene and find the smoking gun that identifies the perp or clears the innocent suspect.

The problem with the game is that it takes the concept of a mildly adult (if not grim enough) TV show, and purports that for some reason those playing this game would be children! It frequently insults one's intelligence with its low difficulty and its painfully repetitive nature; it can be blasted through in a short afternoon but isn't at all satisfying. It works just about as a gimmicky adaptation of the show, but for anyone more discerning, it's just not good.

A good attempt at a crime/murder game which I hold in high regards

Considering I am not somebody who watches the show I was pleasantly surprised while looking for a decent murder mystery type of game to come across CSI: Hard Evidence and thoroughly enjoy it. I was sceptical of whether to get it as I thought you would need to know the series and characters in order to play but this was not the case and anybody who likes an interesting, gritty point and click game will love this.

      -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
      Realism
      -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The characters, that are all from the programme are accurate enough to the real life actors and the actual actors even provide the voice overs so it means you are experiencing the closest thing to being in an episode.

      -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
      Graphics
      -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Apart from the characters looking a bit stiff and the characters voices badly out of sync to the movement of the mouths (but honestly don't let this put you off) overall the graphics are quite pleasing. The scenarios for you to find clues are quite detailed and broad making for a more challenging game. Another plus (although you would probably expect this in a modern game) is that the characters are 3-d to match the surroundings in the game.

      -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
      Gameplay
      -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The game runs very smoothly and is easy to navigate because of the very simple point and click system which when your cursor turns green usually means you have found a clue. This can mean that the game is made very easy as all you really have to do is wave your mouse across the screen and you will find someting. However some clues are well hidden and require a bit of thinking and therefore cannot be found by simply waving the mouse. The vast array evidence tools gives you an indication of the very clever tools available to real life forensic police and personally fascinates me. Some of the techniques that you will use within gameplay are taking fibre samples by placing a square film over it, simple but interesting. The amount of locations that open up to you as you progress through a crime keep the game fun and gives you plenty to do. As well as this the lab room is a highlight for me as you get the chance to search for fingerprint matches and analyse different materials etc.

      -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
      Life Span
      -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The game is very fun and enjoyable while the variety of cases really do keep you hooked and entertained because of how bizarre and different each is and the genuine fact that you are intrigued to find the person who did it because yuo are clueless at the start. With unlockable items and different levels of difficulty I would say that the game has a decent lifespan and as it can be bought from between £5-£15 if you shop about I think that it is good value for money.

      ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      Conclusion
      ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A very good game that I would highly recommend for fans of the series or if you are just interested in crime/murder related games like me. With five original cases and a huge amount of clues to be discovered, analysed and used to pin-point the criminal the game is worth buying

        All-inall a great game

For anybody who is a fan of CSI and crime dramas this game is an absolute must. This game really recreates crime scenes in true CSI fashion and you get too work with each of the CSI carachters in turn.

You can dust for finger prints, get warrants, search crime scenes, do DNA tests, put items together, search computer hard drives and so much more.

You even get to work through stories and you need to work out as you go along the logical steps to follow. You then process the evidence accordingly. The game eve informs you what different CSI equipment is used for during the loading scenes.

At the moment also this item is very nicely priced and is definately worth it. Some areas are a bit difficult though and you may need to take a hit. The catch is taking hints will reduce your overall score. This is great family fun.

5 Differents cases, 5 crime scenes - earn points to work your way up the CSI ladder, A great game

Just finished this game today and is a must have for any hardcore CSI fan! Working alongside Catherine, Grissom, Nick, Warrick, Sara, Doc Robbins, Jim Brass and Greg, you become a 'New CSI' and are evaluated at the end of each case to see how well you have done. Earn points for thoroughness, collecting bugs for Grissom's collection, collecting evidence and using initiative in the lab to analyse the evidence you have collected, speak to suspects in the interrogation room, interview witnesses, and see if the evidence takes you to the correct conclusions. Scenes are lifelike, with blood, fingerprints, bullets, victims in their final positions, the weapon nearby, torn fabrics and fibres to collect. The characters look and sound fairly real, with the exception to Catherine, who in my opinion looks a bit barbie-doll like and plastic and Doc Robbins, who looks as though he should be on the morgue gurney instead of the victim.

Collect blood, bullets, hairs, fingerprints, fabrics, DNA, photographic evidence, weapons, and alibis and analyse these all in the lab to see who your suspects are. There are 5 different cases on this game, each one a different scenario but all just as fun to complete. Earn bonus items and climb up the CSI ladder. Unfortunately you lose points for asking for hints but we all get a little stuck sometimes. Visit Grissom at the end of the case to hear your review, He tells you if you need to improve, and thanks you for his insects to add to his collection. An excellent game and cant wait to play this again! Would be better if there were more cases to solve though as it does not take long to complete the 5 cases. This game takes around 6-8 hours to complete, but that is for the first time completion for myself.
