I have only recently completed this game. I am unfortunately not one of those who were lucky enough to grow up with it as it is right up my street however I am lucky enough to have a boyfriend who nagged me for a good few weeks until I finally gave up and bought the game. After about 20 minutes into the first Monkey Island, I was hooked. It didn't take me long at all to get the 3rd Monkey Island, the Curse of Monkey Island.

By this point im sure my boyfriend was regretting introducing me to such an addictive game as most days he'd end up just watching me struggle my way through the tricky story of Guybrush Threepwood on the hunt for some magical ring to turn his gold girlfriend back to life.

I chose to do the extra hard storyline with added mysteries. I was well aware the games were coming to an end so wanted to take it slow. Well taking it slow only lasted a few weeks. I almost wished the painfully frustrating parts where id be stuck for hours lasted longer.

The game is basically a mystery game. Take grim fandango or escape the rooms games for example if you know of them and add GuyBrush Threepwood, a 'mighty pirate'. You will pick things up throughout the game and interact with people and object to move the plot along. Sometimes you can be stuck on parts for a very long time which I think does put some people off but I find the fun comes from when you finally get past them.

It's certainly got the best plot of the all the games and found the mysteries to be much more exciting. If it wasn't for my boyfriend occasionally nudging me into the right direction, I'm sure I'd barely have started the curse of monkey island!
