Year of release: 2000 Developers: John Romero's team at Ion Storm Publisher:Eidos Why am I reviewing this stinker? I normally only review games (usually the more obscure ones) that I really enjoy and want to share with others to encourage them to hunt down and try. But I'm doing this particular review as a public service, in the hopes that if you missed this game first time around and happen upon it in a bargain bin or flea market while in the throes of retrogame frenzy and think it might be worth a go - DON'T! Being stuck at home for a while with long-term illness, I decided that an enjoyable way of passing some of that time would be to ... Read the complete review

If you've read the other reviews of this game you'll already know everybody hates it. A LOT! For a game that was delayed beyond belief for many years, had many members of its design team sacked, had level design allocated to amateurs, had the worst save method known to man and had the worst in game character AI for your supposedly "helpful" sidekicks this game had pretty much EVERYTHING stacked against it. But did that stop the producers releasing this game? Did it hell! The game had been started and was well into its creation then production was halted so they could rewrite everything using the then new Quake 2 engine. The game had been hyped, ... This isn’t the most original of stories but its ok. Controls ******** I will tell you the basic controls of the game. The control system is a bit different from games like ... Over the last few months of 1997, there was a disturbing amount of hype and information regarding a game called Daikatana. It was the centre of attention for a few months because it was being developed by John Romero, the main person behind the legandary DOOM series. But as time went on, more and more information began to come under the heading 'Slippage'. The game seemed to never arrive. Then it did. After reading the reviews of the game and noting the awful scores I installed the demo, and actually quite liked the game. I then purchaced the registered version. Hmm.. somethings not right here? The games plot runs something like this. You play ... Read the complete review

I'd been waiting like everyone else - not holding my breath... then one day Daikatana is released with little fanfare. I didn't see any parades or billboard advertising - it just appeared on the shelf at Best Buy one day - kinda slipped in there next to the latest Tomb Raider. I just went ahead and bought it... I just bought it - unbelievably stupid move on my part. I hadn't played the demo (too large to download for me at 56k) and I hadn't really read anything about it... I was just tired of the games I already had and wanted something new. New?? Another reviewer said that "time travel would've helped this game" - true... this game ... Read the complete review
