Advantages: Scarey traditional shoot em up with a twist

Disadvantages: Poor controls, boxy character graphics and a recycled storyline

I love video games and to me there is nothing better than a good horror movie. With Dead Space you are able to get the best of both worlds - but not without compromise.

Graphics 7.5/10 I gave the graphics on this an extra .5 for its sheer gore factor. I think i was about five minutes into the game when what was clearly and alien monster scared the wits out of me and had me heavy breathing as my player was running to get away. However with that said the graphics were somewhat disappointing in other areas - the characters looked very 'boxy' for lack of a better word.

Gameplay/Controls 4/10 Very disappointing indeed there was a distinct 2 second lack of response between using the keyboard controls and the character moving/performing an action - this simply put detracted from the entire gameplay and ended up with me abandoning the game in frustration. However I imagine this might improve with a joypad - but if you are going to do that may as well get it for your Xbox360.

Storyline: 5/10 Boring I for sure have played this game time and again! the redeeming factor here was that it iwas much harder to score bonuses than all previous aline shoot em ups but yeah boring from a storyline point of view

Summary: Overall Rating: 5.5/10 It scared the wits out of me but not enough to keep me fighting the controls
