Defence of The Ancients is a real time strategy game. Its a unique game yet the same thing happens everytime. Defence of The Ancients consists of two team that fight against each other. You play the role of one member on one team. There can be a maximum of 5 on each team which can be made up of real people playing or AI. The most popular way to play is through a 5v5 player to player environment. When you stat you pick a character (hero). Defense of the Ancients Defense of the Ancients also known as DotA; is a 'custom game' of the popular game Warcraft III The Frozen Throne. DotA's concept was taken from Starcraft's 'custom game' Aeon of Strife; but quickly outgrew its predecessor in popularity. DotA's popularity was thanks to its innovative RTS (real time strategy) one unit control; and combining this with a 5vs5 team game which made for great fun.
