Advantages: Easy
Disadvantages: Repetative and a little boring
Delicious Winter Edition is the festive version of a game called, (you guessed it), Delicious. I downloaded this game from Gamehouse I think, (www.gamehouse.com), I can't remember what it cost but I think a CD with it on costs £7.95 at the moment.
In delicious you play a woman called Emily from one café to the next serving festive delights to your customers. This game would be suitable for kids from about 8 or as soon as they can comprehend the controls which are really very simple, just point and click. There is a cute storyline and the Christmas theme makes this game appealing to children. Although I have completed it, I would say this one is more for the kids as there isn't really enough to do to keep grown-ups interested.
The graphics are 2D which makes the perspectives a little weird but they are pretty and the colours used are nice and Christmassy! The sound effects are basic but effective with a little bell ringing when your customers come in and change rattling when you collect the payment.
There are 2 game modes: City to City and Day in, Day out.
City to City takes you on a journey through different cafes in different cities. Each day you have to reach a target amount of profit in a set time before progressing to the next day. Each Café has several days at the end of which you earn an upgrade like Christmas Cookies or a larger tray.
To play Day in, Day out you have to first complete the cafes in City to City mode. Every time you complete a café you unlock one in Day in, Day out. I think this is an endurance test; you just have to play day after day in the same café. Every day still has a target and you have a reputation meter in the corner of the screen. I think the idea is to make the target each day, (it gets steadily bigger), and to make sure your reputation stays high by keeping all you customers happy. I have played this for AGES and nothing happens so I won't be playing it anymore!
Really that is all I can say about Delicious Winter Edition. It is a good game for kids, (especially girls who will find the subject more appealing), but a little slow and easy for an adult. It losing two stars for that reason and for the repetitive game-play.
Summary: An average game from Gamehouse
