Desert Stike is an intelligent little shoot em that is set around the time of the Gulf War, and was originally released on the Megadrive in the early 90s. You take control of an Apache helicopter, and fly aroround a series isometrically-presented Middle-Eastern desert and city landscapes undertaking rescue missions, search and destroy missions and generally just blowing the hell out of a variety of ground based foes. This game is another gaming classic. You are given a helicopter to fly around the gulf which you are then set missions to prevent world war 3. The helicopter is a AH-64 Apache and your mission is to disable the defense and offense and then take on the leader in charge. During missions you are asked to refuel and many times I have run out and my helicopter spins to the ground in a big heap which can be frustrating at times. The gamer is given a set number of lives and once they are gone you lose and you have to start all over again. In this game you are the pilot of an attack helicopter unsurprisingly from the nqme predominantly based in the desert. The basic storyline is that a madman of unknown origin has arisen and is currently threatening to begin World War three. This self-proclaimed General Kibaba is now a target of the US government who are trying to return the area to stability. The missions revolve around destroying military targets and rescuing dissidents from the regions under the control of Kibaba.
