Advantages: Great Arcade feel, Immense Game, Huge Variety
Disadvantages: Can be Really hard, Un-original
Desperados is a great game. Fans of Commandos will love this game, and it's arcade styling, gives it a good start for first time users of strategy games. The Basic idea of the game, is that you control up to six characters as you make your way around a map, completing a certain mission. You start of with John Cooper, the green beret of Desperados. He has the ability to throw knifes, punch people and distract them. Sound familiar? He soon rescues his friend Sam, who is an expert in ammunition and explosives. Other characters include, Doc, who is a sniper, and also heals other characters. Kate, the seductive lady, who can distract men, and produce a powerful kick. Sanchez, the strong Mexican, who can take three enemies at one time. And a little kid, who is super fast and is a nuisance. These characters closly follow those from Commandos, and doesn't seem original. However, the game itself is much more fun. It seems much more "arcady" than other strategy games, and also has great graphics. The amount of different characters you can interact with is immense, and voices are also used. The game can be hard at some parts, and really easy in other parts. It seems every time your stuck, you confront your enemies and keep shooting them, forgetting the stealthy part of the game. The quicksave option, kind of gives the game less meaning, as you can restart quickly to the last save point, if you die. However, this game is a good choice for people looking for a game from the strategy genre, but some might find it tedious and boring. I, on the other hand, found it enjoyable! Great Game!
