Advantages: It's funbeing a desperate housewife
Disadvantages: They need to make the game last longer with more to do in it
I have had this game for about a year now. I have completed it twice but I think that will be me not playing it for another couple of years. It is based on the popular tv programme Desperate Housewives and you get to live like one of the gang. It's easy to play with hints to tell you what to do. There is a map to get you from place to place and if you double click on a house it will take you there instantly rather than waiting for your character to walk there. You have a mobile that will ring from time to time, just click on it to answer. It will log everything you have bought/stolen until you need it.
The game reminds me of The Sims. You make a character with a name and also choose a husband and a son. It's a shame because you don't get to go into great detail making your husband and child but you do get to make your character to almost the way you want. Again there's not a great range of choices so don't spend too long making the characters.
Once you finally have your family, you then move into a house in Wisteria Lane, it would be better if you did get to buy all your furniture or even build the house but unfotunately it is all done for you. You do get to upgrade some of the furniture but not much of it.
So once the game starts you get to do tasks and make friends with the other characters. You have conversations with them and you get to choose what you reply to their questions, whether you want to be nice or nasty to them. This will lead you to become friends with some of the street and join in on their famous poker nights. If you can play poker then you'll enjoy this part of the game but to be honest it bored me a bit.
Once you get to know the characters they will ask you for favours - again you can choose what you want to do and if you want to go ahead with it. Theres good storylines which your character is always involved in.
Back at home you have to clean rooms. You also get to cook - which is my favourite bit of the game, you choose a recipe and work through making it, you get timed doing this and depending on how well you do it and keep within the times you will get marked. Once you get used to it, it can be quite simple and I usually got A+, after you've done the first lot of recipes it will unlock more for you. You also get to tend to your garden which is a few tasks as well but don't get too carriedd away because it's easy to spend all your money on flowers!!
You do get to go shopping, take the car down to the mall to buy more clothes, perfume, chocolates and loads more. You also get to go and change your appearance if you get bored of it. There is also a pawn shop and if you talk to the owner he will ask you to find items that he'll pay good money for, you then have to sneak into your neighbours houses to find this, without getting caught and if you make too much noise you have to run out of the house before getting caught!!
You can make good friendships with the characters, enemies out of others and even slap them if you don't like what they're saying to you. With the male characters you can seduce them, which could be fun, but the only thing about this is theyh never talk about it so it's never a storyline which would make it very interesting, just like the tv programme!!
I found the game didn't last long and you can't really get completely into the game before all off a sudden it ends. As much as I enjoyed all the tasks and bits and pieces you get to do, and I find all of it makes it great to play and some of it is more fun than the Sims but with the game not lasting long it is a bit of a disappointment.
The game is currently selling on Amazon for £3.99. I do think it's worth that price even if you only play it once but I wouldn't pay more for it. I think if they spent more time making a new one and making the game last a lot longer with more things to do with your house it would be fantastic.
Summary: Good game for a while but over before it begins
